Activating and Installing Pilot
Pilot Product Key and Software
When you purchase a Pilot Single-Seat Software License, you
will receive a
Product Key
that will enable
you to install Pilot on your computer.
There are two ways you could have purchased Pilot software:
- Download Only. Your Product Key and Pilot software can be found by logging into
My Account on the CACE
Technologies Website.
- Download + CD. As with Download Only, your Product Key and Pilot software can be found by logging into
My Account on the CACE
Technologies Website.
Your Product Key can also be found on the inside of the Pilot CD case; Pilot software is included on the CD.
Online Access to Your Product Keys and Pilot Software
Once you have logged into
My Account on the CACE
Technologies Website, you will be able to see all of your Pilot Product Keys.
For each Pilot License you will be able to view the following information:
- Product Key: an 18-digit
alpha-numeric key that is used during the installation process to activate
and install Pilot on a particular computer.
- Number of Activations: the current
number of activations of Pilot using this Product Key.
- Pilot Download: link to Pilot
installer (Pilot_Setup.exe).
- Subscription End Date: the end date of the
update subscription associated with this Product Key.
Maximum Number of Activations
Each Product Key as a maximum
number of allowable activations. A Pilot
Single-Seat Software License has a Product Key which
allows a single activation. This means
that if you install Pilot on a machine and would like to move it to another, you will have to uninstall Pilot from the first
machine before installing it on the new one.
Pilot can be purchased with a
Product Key that allows multiple activations.
This is useful if you are considering a Site License.
Contact
sales@cacetech.com to learn more about
this option.
Keeping Track of Activations
During the installation
process, you will be asked to provide your Product Key. After this you will be asked to select
between
Internet Activation and
Phone Activation.
If your computer is connected to the
Internet, then Internet Activation is the most convenient way to proceed. Otherwise, you can select Phone Activation
(business days, between 8:00am to 5:00pm Pacific Time). Once the Activation step is complete, you
will be able to install Pilot.
After successful activation you
will notice that the number of activations associated with the Product Key has been incremented by one.
Pilot Uninstall
In order for you to move Pilot from one machine to another,
you may have to Uninstall Pilot. The
reason for this is that if you have reached the maximum number activations
associated with your Product Key, you will not be able to install Pilot on
another machine. Uninstalling Pilot
will reduce the number of activations of Pilot allowing you to install it on another machine.
The Pilot Uninstaller is accessed
using the Microsoft Add or Remove Programs application.
During the Uninstallation process you will be asked to choose
between Internet Deactivation and Phone
Deactivation.
If your computer is
connected to the Internet, then Internet Deactivation is the most convenient
way to proceed. Otherwise, you can
select Phone Deactivation (business days, between 8:00am to 5:00pm Pacific
Time).
After uninstalling Pilot you can go to
My Account
and
you should see that the number of activations associated with the Product Key has been decremented by one.
Pilot Updates
New releases of Pilot will
become available periodically. These releases
will contain bug fixes, new features, and new Views. As long as your update subscription has not
expired, you will be able to download and install these new releases using your
original Product Key. The typical process for installing a new Pilot release is
to uninstall the current version of Pilot on your computer and then install the
latest release using the same Product Key.
You can obtain Pilot updates by going to the
My Account page
on the CACE Technologies Website.
The Pilot
Download link refers to the latest version of Pilot that was released prior
to your Subscription End Date.
