Integrated with Wireshark

• Pilot has been designed by a team that includes Wireshark's creator, Gerald Combs. It is the only product in the industry to offer full integration with Wireshark.



• Pilot enhances your ability to perform complex filtering operations that are key to effective network analysis. The integration with Wireshark makes Wireshark's extensive collection of capture and display filters easily available throughout Pilot.



• Pilot makes it possible to select a traffic source (live or trace file) and send it to Wireshark, making Wireshark's prodigious dissector library for deep packet analysis available for ready use within Pilot.



• Pilot increases network troubleshooting possibilities. You can process very large trace files by isolating interesting portions of the trace file using Pilot's powerful analysis engine before sending to Wireshark.



• Pilot works with standard pcap files. Trace files created by Wireshark and other open source tools, including pcap files generated on Linux or Mac systems, can be opened easily with Pilot.

• Pilot is based on a powerful network analysis engine that can perform multiple, simultaneous analyses on traffic sources, whether they are live or trace files.



• Pilot's network analysis engine is capable of opening very large trace files and high-bandwidth live sources.



• Pilot's network analysis engine is integrated with Wireshark, leveraging Wireshark's analysis capabilities for charting and filtering.

Pilot Views: Flexible Analysis and Visualization Paradigm

• Views are the core analysis and visualization paradigm in Pilot. Pilot contains over 70 views providing a broad range of protocol support for both wireless and wired networks. Views consist of a collection of display components called Charts.



• An almost limitless variety of Views can be obtained by using Views in conjunction with Wireshark's capture and display filters, highlighting the benefits of Pilot's tight integration with Wireshark.



• View documentation is available online as a "tool tip," obtained by a simple mouse-over on the View icon. Each tool tip contains a description of the analysis displayed in each of the Charts within a View and additional Usage Information.

Pilot Charts: Innovative Visualization Components

• Pilot offers a complete collection of Charts including bar, pie, and strip charts, conversation rings, and grids. Charts are the innovative interactive display components of Pilot's Views.



• Pilot's Charts are interactive and can be resized or moved. Most importantly, users can perform visual selections on elements within a chart, such as selecting individual bars within a bar chart or time intervals within a stripchart.
  Selection is the key to Pilot's exclusive drill-down feature.

Drill-Down: An Innovative Analysis Paradigm

• Drill-down is one of the most powerful and unique features in Pilot. Drill-down occurs when the user applies a View to a source which itself is the result of a selection made within a Chart of a previously instantiated View. This powerful paradigm multiplies your analysis capabilities.



• Drill-down applies to both live and trace file sources.



• Pilot's drill-down feature allows you to analyze very large trace files, quickly guiding you to anomalous network behavior.

• Pilot can decrypt WEP, WPA, and WPA2 (pre-shared key) 802.11 frames.
